Massive Attack Collaboration

Massive Attack and collaborate to manage the band’s carbon footprint:

Massive Attack take the Carbon emissions associated with touring very seriously. The band knows they are directly responsible not only for the emissions associated with their own logistics but also those of the fans that attend their events. To tackle the issue the band collaborated with DaysE and Co2 Balance, to calculate all emissions associated with their tours since 2016.

The band will now off-set these emissions by investing in projects that reduce carbon emissions and deliver social impact in Africa and beyond.

The next stage of the collaboration is to build the most accurate, easy to understand and dynamic carbon calculator giving a data trail that is clear and transparent; It will be embedded into a publicly available dashboard that, based on the output from the calculator, will provide recommendations on how the carbon offset payments can be invested.

The band is also working with DaysE and its associates to reduce their carbon footprint as a long term solution, by developing a low energy, zero carbon production rig incorporating state of the art PA, solar and battery technology.

The Team at DaysE have been very impressed by Massive Attacks’ commitment to audit their current carbon emissions and invest their voluntary contributions into meaningful projects. To also go back as far as they could with legacy tour data really shows they are serious. To then add their audience emissions was a real game-changer. We hope that the bands initiative and foresight will act as a catalyst for positive change in the industry. As a collaborative team, we are committed to building the most accurate Carbon Calculator out there and will make it available for anyone to use. DAYSE and Massive Attack also recognise that the offsetting of carbon emissions is not enough; we need to reduce emissions as much as possible. ‘

DAYSE can audit current and legacy emissions and advise on how to invest your voluntary payments into various carbon reduction projects with social impact outcomes. We can also monitor and audit the current energy requirement of event/show/festival productions and help to reduce that dramatically, giving you the total package.
